Filter the View, Not the Underlying Data with LODs

Go to the Exercise

Create a table calculation to filter the view so that all data is still available for calculations. This technique demonstrates the flexibility and power of table calculations in Tableau, allowing for complex calculations while preserving the complete dataset for further analysis. The LOOKUP() function is used in conjunction with another calculation, a moving average. The LOOKUP() function accesses data points for the moving average calculation, while the original data remains accessible for other purposes.
